at least our laughter will drown them out

there’s arms to hold in cosy clothes
keeping us comfortable when it gets cold
behind our zines and new LPs
wallpaper that hurts your eyes to see
mapping out how we can cover it up
with pictures of all the things that we love
but any house could be home with you

i know what you hide is my design
it still hurts just to look
through honeycomb
cut my teeth on lonely nights
swinging out the window
catching fragments of their conversations
my consciousness ebbs and flows
read my tea leaves and tell me what they know
